Ramadan is finally around the corner. If you are an expat living in Saudi Arabia right now, you can already feel the shift in the air.

Everyone starts to decorate their house with Ramadan decorations, and you don’t want to miss out!

As you can see, the supermarkets started to display Vimto (popular Ramadan drink in Saudi Arabia) and dates. The malls are rolling out their Ramadan collections too.

My Own Ramadan Experience

To share with you a bit of a background, decorating for Ramadan or having a “Ramadan corner” was not really popular where I came from.

As a born Muslim from Southeast Asia, our Ramadan was more about the food bazaar, the post-taraweh dessert, and even if there’s decor it is mostly for Eid preparation.

We didn’t really hang lanterns or put up moon lights inside our homes for Ramadan.

But since I moved to Abu Dhabi two years ago, then later to Riyadh, my perspective has completely changed.

Living in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan is a whole different vibe.

Every house, cafe, and street corner lights up. You walk into a mall in Riyadh and see these massive, elegant crescent moons and lanterns.

It feels so festive and cozy, and I realized I wanted to bring that same feeling into my own apartment.

This is my favorite budget-friendly decorating hack. You can simply change the color palette of your room by changing the cushion covers.

The fabric is soft, which is important because we spend a lot of time lounging on the sofa after a heavy Iftar meal!

Between the Vimto spills and the soups, you need a good tablecloth to protect your table. But it shouldn’t just be practical; it should be pretty and fits the whole vibe too!

My final thoughts
